From Recovery to Redemption

Start Artz began as more than a business—it was a personal journey. Founder Jonathan McAdam, with 12 years in recovery, created Start Artz out of a desire to transform his experiences with addiction into a beacon of hope. What started with selling heart-inspired prints on the grounds of Byward Market has evolved into a thriving intiative, dedicated to creating meaningful streetwear and art with a message of resilience.

The Story

At Start Artz, we believe in the transformative power of art and self-expression. Founded by Jonathan McAdam, our story is one of resilience and creativity.

As a recovering addict since 2012, Jonathan has turned his journey of healing into a mission to inspire others. After spending 26 months in residential treatment, he emerged with a renewed purpose: to create a brand that reflects hope, innovation, and individuality.

In partnership with his brother, best friend, and business partner, Michel Bigras, Jonathan introduced "Medicreational Art"—a unique fusion of meditation and creation. This vibrant, energy-filled style of design serves as a therapeutic outlet and a celebration of recovery and renewal. At Start Artz, we don't just create art; we craft stories of transformation and empowerment.
